Review of a book titled - Mrs. Tom Thumb

A devourer  of books I am so when I read an article about the subject of this book, something told me that I just had to read it. My local library had a few copies so I borrowed one. Have to admit that this book is nonfiction but reads like fiction. My hats off to the author. It is an interesting subject as I didn't even know of  Miss Vinnie Warren Bump, aka Mrs Tom Thumb. I could sing praises but that is what real critics do but for those like me, I recommend this as it covers her early life, her first time away from family as she learns the perils of wicked men and how what we call freaks were just average people born into extraordinary circumstance that changed their lives. It covers how she first meet Mr. P.T. Barnum and how she would end up marrying General Tom Thumb. Her marriage was one out of business, not love but throughout it all, the voice of the woman herself sounds not like the voice of a woman born a dwarf but the voice of a bold and confident woman who would not allow limitations to stop her. I won't say more as it would spoil the book but below is the information you'll need to get your hands on a copy of a great nonfiction book through the local library or amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com:

9/11 - what is wrong with us as a nation?!

Before all of you jump my ass for this post, I believe that we should honor the memory of the fallen but its the length of time and this country's collective mindset that has me pissed off. TEN YEARS PEOPLE! that is way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, way too long to be stuck in this damn rut. time to move on and focus on other things like a president that has jacked up the economy so bad that the unemployment rate is high and we're on the brink of falling in a depression. Yes I had my own personal experiences when 9/11 happened and to be honest, any one heard of the adage that goes like this : PRIDE BEFORE THE FALL. We as a country were prideful that since Pearl Harbor, we have not been attack on our soil. It was our own damn pride that allowed for security laxes to be evident for that whole thing to happen. Three years after the event is plenty of time to mourn and reflect but then move on. Life keeps flowing and ebbing. Should we expect that those widows of 9/11 (who by the way are now millionaires due to this event) to be pining away in some hole? They are living their lives and its sad to say but this country has forgot that it has to keep living. Look at our Capitol, its full of monuments to men that are dead (don't get me start on the MLK memorial -thats a separate post ).

All these damn specials about it makes Pearl Harbor look like a footnote. I have heard all the reasons for this overplayed drama and be lucky I'm not sitting in the White house. The NY 9/11 memorial would be reduce to a small park, that flight 93 memorial would not even be as by the time they crashed, our own fighters were up in the air and took it out (go ahead and argue with me but i do ask that you consider that we were smart enough to have fighters to scramble once upon a time when this was a what if situation) and the pentagon - we have totally forgotten that the pentagon has lives lost. No, the towers were the only ones attacked and therefore we must act like simple minded fools. For Americans to still get weepy eye and feel a pain that should be dull by now is ridiculous and Bin Laden and his group have succeed!!!!!! No longer are we a nation that can get back onto its feet while a heart full of pain so we can show our enemies that we are proud, strong and defiant. Instead we got knock down and HAVE STAYED DOWN, weeping over healed wounds while our foes are laughing at us, mocking us. So we got Bin laden but he got us first and as long as we pull this stupid stuff, we have lost respect in the eyes of the world.  Proud to be an American, answer would have been yes before 9/11 but now seeing how much of a simpering, whimpering, blabbering, wimp we as a nation became, my answer is what is an American now?

Ramblings

So listening to my Itunes list of music and wondering what is going on in the world of ours. Where to start? Seeing stories on the TV with sound muted and reading captioning makes me shake my head. Are the Mayans right? Is this world ending by us witnessing that society has given up on all forms of civility and the world ending is truly society going back to its barbaric roots? *rubs chin* Maybe or maybe not. I grew up in the 1980s and my grandmother 1940s, talk about the wide generation gap. Her era was focused on politeness and manners whereas my generation started to slough off the manners and politeness. Oldest of four here and between me and my younger siblings is a major difference. The three of them are more what society has nowadays then what I am. Am I a member of a dying social breed? Will someone tell me why are manners so bad to have nowadays? People are rude and stupid, its like common sense has been slowly bred out of the human race. All these movies about apes kicking our asses to take over the planet or us being invaded by ET have the feeling of being more real then a movie that has a storyline with people being actually nice to each other. Should I start building my survival bunker so when man wars with his fellow man, i can survive to help restart a society? *taps lips* On second thought, I don't want such heavy burden on my shoulders. Just surviving in this social jungle of rudeness, stupidity and being just plain old mean is enough. If the Mayans foresaw the decay of society like this, couldn't they have been a bit clear about it? if you doubt me, watch the news about the idiots that cross safety barriers for that one great photo op or something else.  Meanwhile I'm going to curl up in a corner and pretend I see dead people to get a TV show of my own. *waves* Bye and enjoy this senseless rambling!

A video and song that fits this current president!

Okay, first of all, I am a democrat and to my shame, I made a mistake in 2008. I bought the lip service that a certain dude in the oval office was spouting at the time. Now I have grown to regreat it and determine to not repeat that mistake. This video and song was done by Eminem as a reaction to Bush but I think it fits well for our current president!

A Little Tale of Introduction

Like the image says, nothing is written in stone.....well at least nothing is written in stone permantly thanks to mother nature. Ah, yes, a little tale of introduction is what this is to let you know that A) irl i am a writer/poet so what goes here is my sweet labor of imagination and creativity, B) this is a mask I am wearing to share my works with cyberworld, C) I will not reveal my personal info (don't need Satan to come knocking on my door to reclaim his genius), D) I am human (mortal or not is debatable) therefore I will make errors, E) I appreciate feedback as it either helps inflate my small ego or helps me stay grounded and F) enjoy what is posted here, any recognition of people/places is based on real people that are tweaked or just pure imagination, so I don't take responsibility for anything that can get me in a legal mess under the heading of slander. Oh, G) Please don't hunt wolves/vampires/ghosts/goblins and so on as they have the right to exist as well.

" A proverb is no proverb to you till life has illustrated it. Ever let the Fancy roam, Pleasure never is at home. The imagination of a boy is healthy, and the mature imagination of a man is healthy, but there is a space of life between, in which the soul is in ferment, the character undecided, the way of life uncertain. Philosophy will clip an Angel's wings Conquer all mysteries by rule and line, Empty the haunted air, the gnomed mine - Unweave a rainbow" - John Keats
